デボラ・ハリーをセックス・シンボル的イメージを武器にニュー・ヨークから飛び出したニュー・ウェイヴ・バンド。『ハート・オヴ・ザ・グラス』、『ラプチャー』、『夢見るＮＯ．１』、『コール・ミー』等、Ｒ＆Ｒ、ソウル、レゲエ、ラップ等を融合させた数々の名曲を生み出した。なかでも、映画『アメリカン・ジゴロ』の主題歌としてヒットしたジオルジオ・モロダーのプロデュースによる『コール・ミー』はブロンディーの名エレポップである。リーダのクリス・スタインは病に伏しブロンディーは解散したが８０年代後半復活しデボラ・ハリーのソロをプロデューサーとしてサポートした。

カルチャークラブを始めとして８０年代に活躍したバンドの再結成の兆しが見られますが、９９年になって何とブロンディーが再結成されました。８２年の『ハンター』以来のオリジナル・アルバム『No Exit』（BMG Japanからの日本盤は１５番目の隠しボーナス・トラック「Hot Shot」を含む）が９９年にリリース。ディスコ、スカ・レゲエ、パワーポップ、ヒップホップ、カントリーと様々な要素を備えたブロンディーならではのポップ・ワールドを聴かせます。解散して１５年経った（デボラあねごは５０才超えてる！）のが信じられない見事なる復活です。

It's a new wave band from New York using the sex symbol image of Deborah Harry as their weapon. They created several excellent tunes such as "Heart Of Glass", "Rapture", "The Tide Is High", "Call Me" by mixing R&R, Soul, Reggae, Rap, etc. Among them, "Call Me" produced by Giorgio Moroder, a big hit as the main theme song of movie "American Gigolo", was a master piece electro pop of Blondie. Chris Stein, a leader, became seriously ill and Blondie was disbanded, but he recovered in late 80's and supported Deborah Harry as a producer.

There is a sign of reunion of popular 80's bands such as Culture Club, and Blondie has been reunited in '99! The new original album "No Exit" (Japanese version released on BMG Japan includes the 15th hidden bonus track "Hot Shot") was released in '99 since "Hunter" in '82. You can listen to Blondie's original pop world with various elements such as Disco, Ska-Raggae, Hip Hop, Country. They made such an unbelievablely strong come-back 15 years after they were disbanded (Deborah is now over 50!).
