グラムド・ディスクは８１年に設立されたベルギーを本拠地とするクレプスキュールとならぶポスト・パンクのレーベルです。元々Akasak Maboulとういう実験プロジェクトをしていたMark Hollander（後にハネムーン．キラーズ）がレーベルの主宰者です。Crammed Todayはポップ系、Made To Measureは環境音楽・サントラ系、Cramboyはタクシードムーン用と分かれている。日本人（清水靖晃、Sonoko）を含め多国籍なアーティストを扱うレーベルとしても知られる。公式サイトのCrammed Discsではメール・オーダーも出来ます。

Crammed Discs is a Belgium-based Post Punk label founded in '81 as well as Crepuscule. Mark Hollander who originally did an experimental project called "Akasak Maboul" (later in the Honeymoon Killers) is the label master. Its devided into Crammed Today for Pop, Made To Measure for Ambient and Soundtracks, and Cramboy for Tuxedomoon. It's known as a label which deal with multi-national artists including Japanese (Yasuaki Shimizu, Sonoko). You can make a mail order at the official site Crammed Discs.

Akasak Maboul

元々はマーク・ホランダーがマーク・ムーラン等と組んだカミカゼ・プロジェクトが母体となる。マーク・ムーランがTelexへ移った後新メンバーでセカンド・アルバムをリリースした。

This is based on Kamikaze Project which Mark Hollander formed with Marc Moulin, etc. After Marc Moulin moved to Telex, he released the second album with new members.

Bel Canto / Bleep / Biosphere

ノルウェー出身の不思議だけど美しい旋律の若々しい（写真だけ見るとアイドルっぽい）３人のユニット。
＜荒特派員＞ベル・カントはノルウェー出身のバンドです。元ボウイのベーシスト、松井常松のアルバム『よろこびのうた』にヴォーカルで参加して、一時期日本でも注目されたアネリ・マリアン・ドレッカーのヴォーカルが素晴らしく、北欧ノルウェーという国からイメージされる通りの、凍えるようなサウンドとでも言いましょうか、氷で出来たスタジオでレコーディングでもしたかのような感じの音なのです。アネリの透き通るような歌声に、深々としたリバーブ、ちょっとアラビックな感じもする独特のメロディー・ラインと打ち込みサウンドにハマって、特に2nd『バーズ・オヴ・パッセージ』は相当聴きました。「The Glassmaker」という曲のなんとも不思議なメロディーに惹かれたのがキッカケです。他、デペッシュ・モードあたりにも通じるヨーロッパ的な、ものすごく悲しいメロディーの「The Suffering」なんかは涙が出るほど好きです。ちなみに、メンバーのニルス・ヨハンセンはクラシックとニューウェイヴ、アネリとゲイル(2nd発表後脱退)はOMD、ニュー・オーダー、ヤズーなどが好きだったそうです。なお、クラムドからのリリースは3rdまでです。また、脱退したゲイルはその後、ブリープというユニットで『ノース・ポール・バイ・サブマリン』というアルバムを発表後、バイオスフィアというユニットでアンビエント・テクノのアルバムをリリースしています。どちらもゲイルのソロ・ユニットのようです。日本盤の『ベスト・オブ・バイオスフィア』というコンピがオススメ。コチラもなぜかすごく、寒くて凍えそうな独特のアンビエント・サウンドを展開しています。

This is a young tiro (looks like idols based on the pictures only) with strange but beautiful melody form Norway.

<Correspondent Ara> Bel Canto is a band from Norway. The vocal by Anneli Marian Drecker who got attention at one time in Japan after participating the "Yorokobi No Uta" by Tsunematsu Matsui, an ex-BOØWY bassist is fantastic. As you can imagin from the country of Norway, it's icy, and it sounds as if it was recorded in the ice-made studio. I listened to them especially the 2nd album "Birds Of Passage" to death as I was hocked by Aneli's transparent voice, deep reberb, a bit arabic unique melody line and programmed sound. The starting point was "The Glassmaker" that has speechless magical melody. I love "The Suffering" that has so sad European melody that is equivalent to Depeche Mode. By the way, I heard that Nils Johansen, a member, liked Classic and New Wave, and Aneli and Geir (left after the 2nd album) liked OMD, New Order, Yazoo, etc. Crammed Discs released up to the 3rd album. Geir who left the band released the album "North Pole By Submarine" as Bleep, then released Amibient Techno albums as Biosphere. Both appears to be Geir's solo unit. Japanese release "Best of Biosphere" is recommended. This is also unique freezing Ambient Sound.

＜gothおやじ氏＞ベルギーのバンド。同じ国のNAMESそっくりの、澄んだシンセが、印象的な、Factory Beneluxあたりの音です。

Hermine

＜Philippe＞ずっと彼女はベルギ−人だと思っていたのですが、J. E. PerrinのFrenchy But Chicのページをチェックしてみると、彼女に関するちょっとした記事があった。彼曰く彼女はフランス人らしい。彼女の本名はHERMINE DERMORIANEでロンドンに在住。アヴァンギャルドな人格らしい。２〜３の演劇の脚本を書いて、『Jubilee』 (Chaos La Funambule)という映画でちょっとした役を演じていた。ヴァージンから２つのシングルをリリース。最初のものはDavid Cunninghamがプロデュースしたが、ヴァージンが契約を破棄したので自主制作していた。『The World On My Plates』という６曲入りのミニアルバムをクラムド・ディスクからリリース。ジャケでは、彼女が洗濯機にレコードを注意深く入れようとしているのが分ります。素晴らしいアルバムです。奇抜でユニーク。ニコがマリーネ・デートリッヒをベルギーのアクセントで歌っている様です。でも、パロディ−的な所はない。単に美しいラブ・ソング。とても奇妙で、ヨーロッパ的。参加ミュージシャンはIan Kane、Ellie Ling、Graham Painting、Dave Brooks、Simon Brint、Rod Melvin、Max Paddisonで、Chris Mansbridgeがレコーディング。確かにテクノポップではないけれど、グレートなアルバムです。ボクのお気に入りの一つです。

<Philippe> I've always thought she was Belgian, but while I was checking out J. E. Perrin Frenchy But Chic pages, I discovered a small article he wrote about her. He said she was French, and that her full name was HERMINE DEMORIANE, living in London. Some sort of avant-garde personnality. She wrote a few theatre plays and had a little role in the movie "Jubilee" (Chaos La Funambule). She made 2 singles for Virgin records. The first one was produced by David Cunningham, but Virgin broke up the contract and she released the records herself . Then she made a 6 tracks mini album named "The World On My Plates", on Crammed Discs. On the cover, you can see her carrefully putting records in the washing machine... An amazing album. Bizarre and unique. Sounds like Nico singing Marlene Dietrich with a Belgian accent ! But there's nothing parodic. Just beautifull love songs. Very strange, and very European feeling.The musicians were Ian Kane, Ellie Ling, Graham Painting, Dave Brooks, Simon Brint, Rod Melvin, Max Paddison. Recorded by Chris Mansbridge. This is not Techno Pop for sure, but it's a great album. One of my all-time favorite.

Honeymoon Killers (Les Tueurs de La Lune de Miel)

紅一点のVeronique Vincentをヴォーカリストに擁するベルギー出身の演劇的構成をしたテクノポップ・バンド。クラマド・ディスク主宰者のマーク・ホランダーも合流しました。クラムドによる再発予定がある模様。
＜Philippe＞偉大な〜るベルギーのバンド。８１〜８２年に１枚のアルバムと２〜３枚のシングルをリリース。Charles Trenetによる曲「National 7」が小ヒットとなった。とても独自のサウンド、とても優れた歌詞。早すぎる解散はとても残念である。バンドのリーダーは２〜３年後に他界。ドラッグ中毒の評判があった・・・・別にファースト・アルバムが存在するが、違ったスタイル（より実験的）でメンバー構成である。

This is a Belgian Techno pop band with drama-like songs featuring Veronique Vincent as a female vocalist. Mark Hollander, the label master of Crammed Discs, joined. It seems that Crammed will reissue their works.
<Philippe> Greaaaaaaaaaaaat Belgian band . One album and a couple of singles in 1981-1982. They had a little hit with National 7, a song by Charles Trenet! Very original sound, very good lyrics. Too bad they split so soon. The leader of the band died a few years later, and had a strong reputation of being a drug addict... There was also a first album, but in a different style (more experimental), and in a different formation.

Mack And The Boys

ロンドンで結成されて、フランス人二人が加わった、アコースティックなお洒落サウンド系。

They were formed in London, and two French guys were added later. Accoustic stylish sound.

Minimal Compact / Foreign Affair

＜荒特派員＞ミニマル・コンパクトのアルバムにはコリン・ニューマンがプロデュースしたものもありますがワイアー関連というより、クラムド・ディスクの中心的存在のバンドという感じです。ミニマル・コンパクトを初めて聴いたのは、教授の「サウンド・ストリート」ででした。バンド名がなんだかかっこ良くて、印象に残ってました。メンバーは５人(初期はサミー、ベリー、マルカの３人)で、そのうち４人がイスラエル人で、ドラマーのみドイツ人。バンド活動を始めたのはオランダのアムステルダムで、のちにベルギーのブリュッセルへ拠点を移したという変わったバンドです。そういう“移民的”なバンドのイメージもあるのでしょうが、サウンドに関する評は「無国籍的な」とかの形容が多いようです。ヨーロッパ的な感じもあり、特によく出てくる中近東的なフレーズにハマったらなかなか抜けられません。好きなアルバムは、やっぱりコリン・ニューマンがプロデュースした『レイジング・ソウルズ』ですね。他のもかなり個性的で良いですよ。大好きなバンドです。また、解散後にメンバーのラミ・フォーティスとべリー・サハロフの二人はフォーリン・アフェアというバンドを結成して再スタートしました。
<Correspondent Ara> While some of the Minimal Compact albums were produced by Colin Newman, they are more like a core band on Crammed Disics rather than a Wire-related band. "Sound Street" by Ryuichi Sakamoto was the first time I heard Minimal Compact. It was memorable as the band name sounded cool. The members are five (Samy, Berry, Malka in early days), and 4 of them are from Israel and a drummer was German. They started the band activity in Amsterdam in Holland, and they moved to Bruxelles later on. As they have an image of "immigrant", they are often described as "stateless". They have some European feel, and their Middle East phrase that often appears is addicting. My favorite is "Raging Souls" produced by Colin Newman. The others are also unique and good. The band I like a lot. After disbanding, Rami Fortis and Berry Sakaharof restarted as Foreign Affair.

Sonoko

京都出身のsonokoさんがデモ・テープを送り、クラムドに認められてコリン・ニューマンとアクサク・マブールのプロデュースの元、上記アルバムを発表した。

Sonoko from Kyoto sent her demo tapes, and she was accepted by Crammed Discs. She released the above album produced by Colin Newman and Akasak Maboul.

Volti

Voltiはメキシコで結成され、後ニューヨークに移った。サルサとエレクトロの融合を試みたユニークなユニットです。

Volti was formed in Mexico and move to New York later. It's a unique unit which tried to fuse Salsa and Electro.

Zazou Bikaye

フランス人のエクトール・ザズーとザィール人のボニー・ビカイエによるアフリカン・ビートに乗ったエレクトロ・ダンス・ユニットです。

This is an Electro Dance unit with African beat by French Ectol (?) Zazou and Zaiel (?) Bonnie Bikaye.
