Chikada, Haruo（近田春夫）

ミュージシャン兼歌謡曲評論家の近田春夫氏は本人の意志かは定かでないが近田ファミリーを形成した。ジューシィ・フルーツは彼の最も商業的成功を収めたプロデュース作です。ジューシィと同じガールズの女の子をヴォーカルにフィーチャーしたピンナップスも１作目がハルヲフォンの高木英一氏で２作目は近田氏自らのプロデュース作である。

Mr. Haruo Chikada who is a musician as well as Kayo-song (Japanese Pops) critic formed Chikada family while I do not know if it's his intent. Juicy Fruits is his most commercially successful production. Pinups featuring the girl from the same Girls as Juicy as a vocalist had the first album produced by Mr. Eiichi Takagi of Haruophone and the second album produced by Mr. Chikada himself.

元サディスティク・ミカ・バンドのキーボーダーの今井裕氏はフュージョン的なサディスティクッスを経て８０年代には高橋・加藤両氏と共にニューウェイヴ化し、イミテーションを結成した。彼の８０年代のプロデュース作も同様にニュー・ウェイヴ色が強いものとなっている。たぶんまだプロデュース作はあるはずです。

Mr. Yu Imai, a former keyboarder of Sadistic Mika Band, became new wave in 80's together with Messrs. Takahashi and Kato, and formed Imitation after fusion-oriented Sadistics. In 80's, his production is new wave oriented as well. Probably there are more productions of his.

Kataoka, Tsurutaro（片岡鶴太郎）

鶴太郎と言えば、ひょうきんベスト１０のマッチを思い出します。今井裕と金子進両氏がプロデュース。赤城忠治氏、リザードのモモヨが曲を提供しています。

Tsurutaro reminds me Match in Hyokin Best 10. It was produced by Mr. Yu Imai and Mr. Susumu Kaneko. Mr. Chuji Akagi and Momoyo of Lizard provided the songs.

Mosdell, Chris

第５のYMOとも言えるYMOの英語歌詞を手がけた事で日本では有名な英国人クリス・モスデルは元SMB、イミテーションの今井裕プロデュースでアルバムを出しています。９９年には再び今井氏の協力の元、テクノなアルバムをリリース。

British Chris Mosdel, the 5th YMO, who is known for providing English lyrics of YMO's songs released the album produced by Yu Imai in Imitation, formerly in SMB. In '99, he released a Techno album with the support of Mr. Imai again.

Kato, Kazuhiko（加藤和彦）

加藤和彦氏はフォークル〜サディスティック・ミカ・バンドを経て８０年代前半に於いてはソロとプロデュース作両方にニューウェイヴ色が強く見られる。イミテーション、スパイ、ＥＸ等のニューウェイヴ・バンドのプロデュースや歌謡曲を手がけた。

Mr. Kazuhiko Kato had strong new wave orientation for both his solo works and productions in early 80's after Folk Crusaders and Sadistic Mika Band. He produced New Wave bands such as Imitation, Spy, EX, and worked on Kayo-songs (Japanese Pops).

現PUGSのHoney☆Kこと北川晴美さんのセカンド・アルバムは加藤和彦氏のプロデュースです。インド大話術団とも『ハレはれナイト』でコラボレーション。

The second album by Ms. Harumi Kitagawa, a.k.a. Honey K currently in Pugs was produced by Mr. Kazuhiko Kato. She collaborated with India Dai-Wajyutsu Dan in "Hare Hare Night".

イミテーションの逆井おさむ氏も在籍した（江蔵浩一氏によると）とてもかっこいいグラム・バンド。

This is a super cool Glam band (according to Mr. Koichi Egura) which Mr. Osamu Sakasai played at.

Spy（スパイ）

１９７７年にソロでデビューした佐藤奈々子さんがニュー・ウェイヴ旋風吹き荒れるなか一時いたバンドです。加藤和彦のプロデュース、岡田徹のキーボードでアルバムを１９８０年に出しました。ムーンライダーズの『Ｋのトランク』の作詞でも知られるように詞がいいです。
＜匿名希望＞SPYのドラマーだった永田裕さんは、現在PLAYER誌の編集をされています。
＜荒特派員＞後期スパイには、上野耕路氏も参加していたようです。

Nanako Sato who made solo debut in 1977 used to be in this band during the New Wave boom. They release the album produced by Kazuhiko Kato with the keyboard of Toru Okada. As she is known as a writer of Moonriders' "K's Trunk", the lyrics are good.
<Anonymous> Mr. Hiroshi Nagata who was a drummer of Spy is currently an editor in Player Magazine.
<Correspondent Ara> It appears that Mr. Koji Ueno was in the late period of Spy.

Kubota, Makoto（久保田真琴）

元祖エスニックの久保田真琴氏はワールド・スタンダードやヤン富田氏の作品を収録したエキゾチック＆アコースティックなオムニバス『若いこだま』のプロデュースを８３年にした。特筆すべきは下のじぇーむす・日の丸＆モモチャンです。彼はインドネシアの歌姫もプロデュースしています。

Mr. Makoto Kubota, an ethnic originator, produced exotic and acoustic omnibus "Youth Of Echo" containing World Standard, Yann Tomita, etc. in '83. James Hinomaru & Momo-chang described as below should be noted as his special production. He also produced Indonesian singing princesses.

Higurashi, Toshiro（日暮士歳朗）

＜オクダケンゴ特派員＞デヴィッド・リンドレーと共演して話題を集めた日本のトップ・スライド・ギタリストである日暮士歳朗が発表したアルバム『I'm Slidin'』のプロデュースは久保田麻琴です。アルバム全体の雰囲気は彼のプロデュース作品らしくかなりエキゾ且つエスノな仕上がりとなっております。録音には、久保田麻琴、井ノ浦英雄、井上憲一、恩蔵隆、サンディーというサンディー＆ザ・サンセッツのフルメンバーに加え、清水一登も参加しています。

<Correspondent Kengo Okuda> Makoto Kubota produced the album "I'm Slidin'" released by Toshiro Higurashi, a Japanese top slide guitarist known for the collaboration with David Lindley. Overall tone of this album is exotic and ethnic like his productions. A full line-up of Sandii & Sunsetz like Makoto Kubota, Hideo Inoura, Ken Inoue, Takashi Ongura, Sandii, plus Kazutoyo Shimizu joined the recording.

Sakuma, Masahide（佐久間正英）

プラスティックスに於いてもプロデューサー的メンバーであった佐久間氏は解散後は日本で屈指のプロデューサーとして大成功を収める。職人的でありアーティストの作品から彼の強い傾向を感じ取ることは難しいがマス・アピールに成功している。

Mr. Sakuma who was a producer-esque member of Plastics became one of the most successful producer in Japan after disbanding. It is hard to feel his strong orientation from his productions due to his professionalism, but he succeeded to make a strong mass appeal.

Bizet（ビゼー）

＜荒特派員から情報＞唯一のアルバムと思われる『フェイス〜』は、プロデューサー、ミキサー、エンジニアとして佐久間氏が関わっています。ジャケが違いますが(素材となった写真は同じモノ)、Page Oneというレーベルから発売されたイギリス盤もあります。サウンドは、たしかにリン・ドラムやシンセを使ってはいるものの、エレポップというよりも、ニューウェイヴ・ギター・ポップ。ちょっとExあたりに近いかも。全曲英語ですが、いかにも日本人が歌ってるという感じのカタカナ英語っぽい発音は、サロン・ミュージックの吉田仁氏のような感じです。

<Correspondent Ara> The album "Faces..." which seems to be only their release involved Mr. Sakuma as a producer, mixer and engineer. While the cover arts are different (the orginal materials are the same), there is a U. K. version released on Page One. While they use rin drums and synths, their sound is more like New Wave Guitar Pop rather than Electro Pop. It may be somewhat close to Ex. While all are sung in English, their Japanese English is like Mr. Zin Yoshida of Salon Music.

dip in the pool / Koda, Miyako（甲田益也子）

『an an』等にも良く出ていたモデルの甲田さんとキーボーディストの木村氏のアンビエント・ポップ・ユニット。木村氏はgrandiscのレーベル・オーナーでもあります。『Silence』はラフ・ドレードからのリリースです。
＜Nick Kent氏＞佐久間正英が「１０Pallets]と「Retinae」（１ｓｔと２ｎｄ）の全曲を共同プロデュースした。セルフ・タイトルのファースト・12゛（Alfa Moon 1985）は小野セイゲンによりプロデュースされた。言及されている「Silence」は12゛トラックの2つは小野により半分プロデュースされ、残りが木村・佐久間によってされたラフ・トレードのLPです。「Silence]の日本版と言えるのが「Dipping」だと思いますが、見たことありません。12゛がそうなので、LPは「Dip In The Pool」というタイトルでは多分ないでしょう。「Dipping」は英語ではちょっと馬鹿げたかんじなので、ラフ・トレードが名前を変えるというのは納得がいきます。でも、誰か他によく知っている人に聞いて見るか、現物を見るまではこれら全ての楽曲を1枚のCDに収めたものがリストされているように「Dip In The Pool」（「Dip In The Pool」と「Silence」が合体した）であるかは確証はありません。

This is an Ambient Pop unit by Ms. Koda, ex model, who often appeared on the magazine "an an" and Mr. Kimura, a keyboardist. Mr. Kimura is also a label owner of grandisc. "Silence" was released on Rough Trade. The Japan-released 2nd album (part of the 1st) was produced by Mr. Masahide Sakuma.
<Mr. Nick Kent> Masahide Sakuma co-produced all of 10 Palettes and Retinae (2nd and 3rd. ) . The first self titled 12" (Alfa Moon 1985) was all produced by Seigen Ono. "Silence" as you mention is the Rough Trade LP with 2 of the 12" tracks half produced by Ono, the rest by Kimura/Sakuma. I think the Japan equivalent of "Silence" was called "Dipping" but I have never seen it, The LP is probably not called "Dip In The Pool" because the 12" was. It would make sense that Rough Trade would change the name since "Dipping" is a tiny bit silly in English. But until I ask someone or see one I can't say for certain the CD of all this material on 1 CD is called just "Dip In The Pool" as you almost have listed (Dip In The Pool and Silence combined).

L-E-V-E-L

佐久間正英氏がプロデュース・編曲したNew WaveっぽいけどNew Music的女性トリオ。シングル「love Me Through The Night」を発表。右端の女性（誰か分からないけど、甘糟さん？）のすましたしぐさが素敵。

This is a New Wavy but New Music-like female trio produced and arranged by Mr. Masahide Sakuma. They also released the single "Love Me Through The Night". The cool gesture of the girl at right side (don't know who, but guess Ms. Amakasu?) is nice.

Skin

佐久間正英がプロデュースしたニューウェイヴな４人組バンド。シングル「満足できない」をリリース。

This is a New Wavy quartet band produced by Mr. Masahide Sakuma. They released the single "Manzoku Dekinai (=I Can't Get Satisfaction)".

Stray

ストレイこと安田光のニュー・ウェイヴ且つエレポップな佐久間正英プロデュースのソロ・プロジェクト。

Yano, Makoto（矢野誠）

矢野顕子の『Japanese Girl』、チャクラのファーストに見られる日本的なエッセンスをポップ・ミュージックに吸収させる矢野誠氏のプロダクションは彼独自の世界です。

The productions of Mr. Makoto Yano that absorbed Japanesque essence to pop music seen in Akiko Yano's "Japanese Girl" and Chakra's first album is his own world.

Ishikawa, Seri（石川セリ）

有名な「Moonlight Surfer」、「ダンスはうまく踊れない」を始め多くの編曲（一部作曲あり）は矢野誠氏によるものです。ニューミュジックに分類されるのでしょうが、ユーミンの「川景色」等の８０年代前半の作品ではよりテクノなアレンジが随所にみられます。また、アルバム「楽園」では、大村憲司氏が全曲のアレンジをこなし、かしぶち哲朗（「彩・夏・夢」）、坂本龍一（「フロッターギュ氏の怪物狩り」、「あやかしのはな」）氏等が参加。

Her songs such as famous "Monnlight Surfer", "Dance Wa Umaku Odorenai" are arranged (some composed) by Mr. Makoto Yano. While it's categorized into New Music, her early 80's songs such as Yumin's "Kawageshiki" have some Techno arragements. In the album "Rakuen", Mr. Kenji Ohmura arranged all the songs and Messrs. Tetsurou Kashibuchi ("Sai-Ka-Mu"), Ryuichi Sakamoto ("Flottergyu Shi No Kaibutsugari", "Ayakashi No Hana") , etc. supported it.
