    再評価の声も高いスクリッティーのRough Tradeからリリースされた記念すべきファースト・アルバムです。アナログは見かけた事がるのですがCDは見ませんでした。もう一つの名盤『Cupid & Psyche '85』ほどエレクトロしていませんが、タイトルにふさわしい珠玉な歌集を聴かせてくれます。スウェーデンの親切なコレクターの方からのオファーで手に入れました。２０００年に再発の予定があるはずなのだが、どうなったのでしょう？

    This is Scritti's memorial first album released on Rough Trade which has been reevaluated recently. I had not seen CD while I saw vinyl in the past. Though it is not as electro as another masterpiece "Cupid & Psyche '85", it is a collection of fine songs as the title says. I got it from a kind collector in Sweden. While there was a plan to re-issue this in 2000, what happened to it?

スクリッティー・ポリッティーとはイタリア語で政治的文章という意味らしい。元はポスト・パンク的なソウルであったが、ニューヨークからDavid GamsonとBill Laswell率いるMaterialにいたFred Maherを迎えて、２枚目の『Cupid & Psyche '85』で一気にエレクトロ・ファンク化した。テクノ・ポップとブリッティシュ・ソウル両方が好きな私には黄金の組み合わせである。様々な音楽的要素をブレンドし８０年初期中期にやってた事としては画期的であり、グリーンが９０年代に主だった活動をしていないのは非常に残念である。先ずは『Cupid & Psyche 85』をおさえて欲しい。ボーナストラックが入ってるので日本盤を買いましょう。グリーンはB. E. F.の『ポップス黄金狂時代ＶＯＬ．２』で一曲歌っている。

Scritti Politti appears to means political script in Italian. It started with Post Punk Soul, but it became Electro Funk with the second album "Cupid & Psyche '85" by inviting David Gamson and Fred Maher of ex. Material led by Bill Laswell. This is the golden combination for me who likes both Techno Pop and British Blue-eyed Soul. Their work by blending various musical elements is revolutionary as the ones in early to mid 80's. It is a pity that Green is not very active in 90's. "Cupid & Psyche 85" is the must. You should buy a Japanese disc as it contains bonus tracks. Green sang a song in "Music Of Quality And Distinction Vol. 2" by B.E.F.
