    ＜荒特派員からの情報＞ローズ・マクドゥールと、“NON”ことボイド・ライスの2人が結成した「スペル」唯一のアルバムは、全編60'sオールディーズのカバーです。「霧の中のジョ二ー」(大瀧詠一氏作曲で、太田裕美が歌ってヒットした「さらばシベリア鉄道」の元ネタであると言われる曲)や、映画主題歌「ローズマリーの赤ちゃん」、マリアンヌ・フェイスフルの「可愛い小鳥」など、ほとんどがどっかで聴いたことあるなぁ、という曲ばかりです。ただ、簡易な打ち込み主体のサウンドは、『ふたりのイエスタデイ』のようなカラフルなエレ・ポップとは全然違いますので、期待すると肩透かしをくらいます。

スクーデリアの石田氏も絶賛しているグラスゴー出身のジルとローズのエレクトロ・ポップ・デュオです。彼女たちは、『ふたりのイエスタディー』を全米５位に送った実績から、メジャーとも言えるが、たった一枚のアルバムしかのこさなかった事とそのエキセントリックな存在感からマイナーとした。ルックスはサイケでアナクロアイドルぽいが実力派のバッキングサポートを得て普遍とも言えるメロディアスなサウンドを僕たちに残してくれた。ゴシック系のバンド、デス・イン・ジュンのメンバーだったこともあるローズはストロベリー解散後ソロ（ブルー・オイスター・カルトの『Don't Fear The Reaper』をシングル・リリース。）、Ornamental（Dave BallとOrn Hilmarssonと共に)、Sorrow（Robert Leeと）、Spell（ミュートのBoyd Riceと）として活動した。

This is an electro-pop duo formed by Jill and Rose from Glasgow whom Mr. Ishida in Scudelia Electro extols of. They can be considered to be major based on their achievement of 5th position with "Since Yesterday" in the U. S. chart, but I put it as minor based on the fact that they left only one album and their eccentric presence. While their look is psyche and like, they left us ever-lasting melodious sound with the powerful backing support. After disbanding Strawberry, Rose who used to be a member of Death In June, a Gothic band, played as solo (released the single "Don't Fear The Reaper" of Blue Oyster Cult.), in Ornamental (with Dave Ball and Orn Hilmarsson), Sorrow (with Robert Lee) and Spell (with Mute's Boyd Rice).
