While I have not written, I had sentMY TOP 10 on an album base to LEXICON magazine.

My top 10 in no real order.
- Art of Noise
"Who's Afraid...?" is brilliant.
Too bad I just realized "Daft"
is "Who's Afraid...?" and their
"Into Battle" EP combined...ARRRGH
(>_<). Some ZTT fan I am... "Beatbox"
is my favorite song.
- ABC
I bought "The Lexicon of Love"
at the right time, when I was getting tired
of songs with the same loop playing over
and over again and wanted something with
more melody. The music is wonderful, and
Martin Fry's lyrics are a refreshing change
from a lot of songs I've heard lately.
I
remember reading that Trevor Horn refused
to remix this album, saying that he "didn't
want to mess with perfection." Agreed.
Favorite song? A tie between "Tears
Are Not Enough" and "Valentine's
Day."
- Aphex Twin
Didn't like "I Care Because You Do"
but I love "Richard D. James Album",
probably because most of the songs are
based
on a jungle/drum and bass style, which
I
love. His new album, "Drukqs"
is
pretty good although one disc would have
been enough. "To Cure A Weakling Child"
is my favorite.
- Frankie Goes To Hollywood
"Pleasuredome"...great, great album.
I could do without "The Ballad of
32",
but I love the rest. Trevor Horn's production
peak? Holly Johnson thinks so. ZTT is a
huge
influence in my design work, and their
work
for FGTH, especially their "BANG!"
biography is wonderful. It's sad how the
band broke up and ZTT had all those big
legal
problems with almost their entire band
roster.
"Welcome To The Pleasuredome"
is
my favorite although "Relax"
is
good too, of course...
- Daft Punk
Many years ago, "Musique" was the
first DP song I heard, on the "WipeOut
XL" soundtrack. I had never heard
a
filter used the way DP used it before then,
and when I first played it I freaked out:
"What the hell's happening to my stereo?!!?!"
LOL...Along with other current fave bands
The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, FSOL
and
Photek (!), Daft Punk is wonderful. "Homework"
is great in places but leaving out a song
or two would have been okay by me. And
the
songs are so long! But my favorite song,
"Around The World", is just fine.
Their new album "Discovery" sounds
a lot like Stardust, which I expected,
but
is still pretty good.
- Underworld
I don't know if you would count Underworld
as "Techno Pop" or not, but I
felt
these guys are too strong an influence
on
me to be ignored. Sorry about that. They're
one of my all-time favorites, though, with
"second toughest in the infants"
being one of the best, most cohesive albums
I've ever heard. "Pearl's Girl"
is one of my many favorites. The Salt City
Orchestra remix of "Cups" is
pretty
great too...
- Bjork
"Post"...great, great. Very good
although an acquired taste, I think. Collaborates
with great musicians too. "Hyperballad"
is probably my favorite.
- Talking Heads
...I think the "Remain In Light"
album has a lot of electronic influence.
Brian Eno as the producer certainly helps.
"Once In A Lifetime" is my favorite
although I sometimes drive myself crazy
trying
to keep up with the unusual pace of the
song

- Kraftwerk
But of COURSE! lol...Some of their work I
like, some I don't. I didn't know what
to
think of "The Man-Machine" after
hearing the great "Trans-Europe Express"
so many times, but I like "Computer
World" and "Tour de France".
"Expo 2000 Remix" is a nice CD,
and the first Underground Resistance mix
is great although shorter than I expected.
Favorite song? Probably "Showroom
Dummies",
but "Expo 2000" is good and "Pocket
Calculator" is great..."I'm the
operator of my pocket calculator...beep
bink
brrp....BRRRRRG!" lol...
- Seal
Trevor Horn's last great ZTT artist? Not
counting the Art of Noise's nice "Seduction
of Claude Debussy" album (which is
unfortunately
only half of the original team...come back
to us, JJ Jeczalik!), I feel Seal's "Human
Being" was the last great Trevor Horn
production. Seal has a great voice, and
works
perfectly with great music. A pity they
broke
up so badly. The first Seal album is the
best, the second has great stuff but a
bit
too "adult contemporary" for
my
tastes, and the third was great. Favorite
song is "Crazy".
