７８年に設立されたＺＥレコードはイギリス人のMichael Zilkhaとフランス人のMichel Estebanの姓名の頭文字を取ったものである。ニュー・ヨークとパリーを結ぶ個性的なインディー・レーベルです。カジノ・ミュージック、クリスチーナ、キッド・クレオール＆ココナッツのようなディスコ風ニューウェイヴからニュー・ヨーク・ノーウェイヴ周辺の幅広い趣向のアーティストを送り出した。
ZE Records founded in '78 was named after the initials of British Michael Zilkha and French Michel Esteban. It's a unique label connecting New York and Paris. It sent various artists from Discotique New Wave such as Casino Music, Cristina and Kid Creole And Coconuts to New York No Wave.
マドンナのプロデュースもしたことで知られる。MCAから後にデビュー・アルバムをリリースした。

ＺＥレコードから出た仏国の四人組みのバンドです。『ジャングル・ラヴ』はブロンディのクリス・ステインがニューヨークでプロデュースした結構期待の新人であった。後、トム・トム・クラブのスティーヴ・スタンレーがエニジニア、同じＺＥのクリスチィーナがバックグラウンド・ヴォーカルで参加。トロピカルムードを醸し出すニュー・ウェイヴ・サウンドである。長い間探し続けやっとアナログを見つけました。
＜Philippe＞「Burger City / Viol AF 015」は彼等の最初のシングルで、「Faites
le Proton / Amour sauvage」は第２弾です。「Faites
le Proton」は英語で「Do The Proton」という意味ですが、意味不明です。リード・シンガーのGilles
Riberollesはフランスのロック・シーンでとても知られたジャーナリストでした。
They were a French band with four people
on ZE Record. "Jungle Love" was
produced by Blondie's Chris Steinin New York
and they were new comers with hope. In addition,
Tom Tom Club's Steve Stanley worked as engineer
and Cristina from the same label ZE joined
for background vocal. It is a new wave sound
with tropical mood. I finally discovered
this vinyl after long search.
<Philippe> "Burger City / Viol AF 015" is
their first single followed by "Faites
le Proton / Amour sauvage". "Faites
le Proton" really means "Do The
Proton". I don't know what they mean
by that... Gilles Riberolles, the lead-singer
of the band was also a very well known journalist
on the French rock scene.

She is a ex-model Avant-garde Disco singer with IQ 165 who graduated from Harvard University. "Disco Clone" is the first single release from ZE Records. I initially thought she is a French with no strong reason, but is she American?
川添さんという日本人女性モデルやドイツ人、ブエルトリコ人等の多国籍メンバーからなる。日本語、スペイン語、フランス語が入り交じるキワモノ的ラップ曲「No Time To Stop Believing In Love」は一度聴いてください。同じＺＥのDavitt Sigerson（彼もメンバーなのでしょうか？）がプロデュースしました。
This unit consists of multi-national members such as a Japanese female model called Ms. Kawazoe, German, Puertorican. You should listen to their novelty rap song "No Time To Stop Believing In Love" blending Japanese, Spanish, French. It was produced by Davitt Sigerson (Is he also a member of the band?), a label mate of ZE.

Newsというフランスのパイオニア的パンク雑誌でもライターをしていた。ファーストアルバム『Press
Color』はMarie & Les GarconsのEricとレコーディングされ、「スパイ大作戦のテーマ」やアーサー・ブラウンの「Fire」をカヴァーしました。

Lizzy Mericier Decloux is a French boyish
poetry cute girl singer who used to play
in No Wave band "Rosa Yemen" (released
an EP on ZE in '78). She also used to write
in Rock News, one of the very first French
Punk magazines. Her first album "Press
Color" was recorded with Eric from Marie
& Les Garcons and she covers "Mission
Impossible" and Arthur Brown's "Fire".
<Philippe Doro> She made many maxi singles, but I haven't
mentioned them, except the very rare Rosa
Yemen.
I am almost sure she made at least one album
after Suspense, but I can't find the informations.

formerly in Original Savannah Band. It's
the front band of ZE and Coati Mundi (a.k.a.
Andy Hernandez) who left the band released
the works as his solo and Don Almando's Second
Avenue Rhumba Band on ZE.

is a 1981 ZE Records various artists compilation
album called "Mutant Disco" that
captures this scene pretty well and includes
the fiendishly funky "Me No Pop I"

FitoussiはCasino MusicのEric WeberとTabouで活動したが成功には恵まれなかった。
＜Philippe＞かなり初期のニューウェイヴ・バンド。彼等の最初のレコーディングは７６年にされた。ヴェルヴェット・アンダーグラウンドの強い影響を受けていた。２枚ほどのシングル（７７〜７８年）、ZEレコードからLP（８０年）、ライヴ・アルバムがリリースされた。彼等の２枚目のシングルである「Attitudes」はジョン・ケールにプロデュースされた。その後、Marieはバンドを脱退し、バンド名はLes
Garcons（又はGarcons）と単に呼ばれた。この時期から彼等は本当にテクノポップ（時にはディスコポップ）となり、２〜３枚のシングルをリリースするが、８０年にまもなく解散してしまう。
This is a band from Lyon, the city of Electric
Callas and Starshooters. They seem to have
releases on ZE Records. Marie released a
single "Les Indiens / Wallis & Futuna"
in '84 as a solo after leaving the band.
Eric Fitoussi, one of the members, played
with Eric Weber from Casino Music in a new
band "Tabou" without much success.
<Philippe> Very early new wave band. Their first recordings
were in 1976. Strong Velvet underground influences...
A couple of singles (1977-1978) and a LP
on ZE Records (1980), plus a live album.
"Attitudes", their second single,
was produced by John Cale. Then Marie left
the band, and they simply called themselves
Les Garcons (or even Garcons). From this
time they really were techno pop (even disco
pop sometimes), released a few singles, but
split very soon in 1980.

This is an American New Wave band featuring Patty Donahue's vocal which started as a side project of Chris Butler who was a guitarist of Tin Huey. Their rap song "Christmas Wrapping" was covered by Spice Girls.
