アメリカのフリックコレクションにメールを配送したのは、８月５日の朝９時頃でした。返事は、翌日の朝４時に頂きました。メールは深夜にもらっても（○ｏ●；）ませんが、Ｆａｘは、結構驚かされます。アメリカのホテルにＦａｘを出したのですが、やはり、深夜に返事を頂き、妻と驚いて目をさましてしまいました。向こうの時間ですと、日中なので仕方ないのですが・・・。
なお、メトロポリタン美術館にある『フェルメール作品』は、下の三つです。この中で、1番好きなのは、兵士と笑う女です。ただ、他の二つの作品もとても好きです。

I know your museum is famous,good,old in the United States. I 'm going to visit your museum through in Dember 2002 to see Vermeer's 3 arts at your museum. My most favorite art is The Officer and Laughing Girl. . Please tell me your museum's Vermeer 3 arts schedule.(At that time can I see all of 5 arts exhibited at your museum?) Dear Mr. Maetani, In reply to your inquiry of August 4th, I am informing you that the following three paintings by Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) in the museum's permanent collection are always on display in the galleries of The Frick Collection, and they never leave the museum to travel to other institutions. "Officer and Laughing Girl", between 1655 and 1660 Oil on canvas (lined) 19 7/8 x 18 1/8 in. (50.5 x 46 cm.) Purchased in 1911 Accession number: 11.1.127 On display in the South Hall "Girl Interrupted at Her Music", c.1660 Oil on canvas (lined) 15 1/2 x 17 1/2 in. (39.3 x 44.4 cm.) Purchased in 1901 Accession number: 01.1.125 On display in the South Hall "Mistress and Maid", probably between 1665 and 1670 Oil on canvas (lined) 35 1/2 x 31 in. (92 x 78.7 cm.) Purchased in 1919 Accession number: 19.1.126 On display in the West Gallery The core of the Frick Collection consists of works of art (not limited to paintings, but also including sculpture and decorative arts) that Henry Clay Frick collected over a period of forty years, displayed in almost the same surroundings in which Mr. Frick enjoyed the art he loved before he bequeathed it to the public. フリック・コレクションから頂いた返事は、今までにない長文でした。返事内容は、「フェルメール作品は、常に美術館に展示され貸し出されることはない。毎週月曜日とクリスマスと元旦が休みという連絡でした。」ということでした。
驚いたのは、文章を書いて頂いた方が、『
Mariko
Iida』方で名前からして、多分日本人のかたではないかということでした（時々、仕事で海外の文献も読むので、なんとなくわかりました）。
最後の追伸で、パソコンに『日本語』のシステムがないので、日本語で返事が書けないが、Ｆａｘを送ってくれれば、日本語の案内を手書きで書きます、と書かれてました。
